Seed is a 2000 independent drama directed by Bobby Sheehan. The film blends fiction and documentary, while focusing on large questions about the meaning of life. Francis Seed (John Michael Bolger), an average man in his 40s, has just watched his life change dramatically. After being told that he has a terminal illness and will not survive much longer, Seed must face the painful and complex questions about his existence that he has spent years trying to avoid and ignore. Without a family, Seed turns to random strangers in his moment of need. He wants to spend his final days on the planet learning something that will make his life worthwhile. The film follows Seed's fictional journey for redemption, but the people he encounters are real and tell actual stories from their lives. The strangers offer comfort, insight and advice to Seed as he travels across the American landscape, encountering many different types of people.
