Seize the Day is a 1986 drama based on the novel of the same name by Saul Bellow. Directed by Fielder Cook, the film follows Tommy Wilhelm (Robin Williams), a hard-working middle-aged salesman who loses his job and heads to New York to rebuild his life. On the way, Tommy must overcome the lack of support from his judgmental father, Dr. Adler (Joseph Wiseman), who can't abide his failure and who refuses to give him any money. His mercenary ex-wife, Margaret (Katherine Borowitz), is intent on taking him to the cleaners. Desperate to succeed, Tommy clings to the hope of getting a job working as a wheelchair salesman for an old friend, Dr. Tamkin (Jerry Stiller). As the downward trajectory of his life begins to overtake him, Tommy must fight hard to overcome the negative influences in his life and come to terms with his father before it is too late.
