Based on true events. On the edges of Las Vegas, 17-year-old Andrew Eriksen's life is spiraling out of control, his descent into drugs and violence rapidly gaining momentum. Andrew's mother (Golden Globe nominee Diane Venora) is helpless to control her son and fighting an addiction of her own, but she refuses to watch her only child destroy himself. As a desperate last resort, she hires a private company to kidnap and confine her son in a locked-down adolescent hospital. When Andrew is subjected to the secret abuses of the program, he realizes must do anything it takes to get free. But first he must face his own demons head-on. Winner of 39 international film festival awards, Self-Medicated is an extraordinary portrait of redemption and personal triumph over hardship that "packs a startling punch." - Variety
