Movie Summary

Director:
David Madden
Released:
1995
Rating:
R

Separate Lives is a psychological thriller about a psychology professor that is living two dangerously different identities. Former police officer Tom Beckwith (James Belushi) wants to be a better father for his daughter and live a normal life, so he sets out to study psychology, turning in his badge. Starting with professor Lauren Porter's (Linda Hamilton) course, Beckwith is content to put down the guns and pick up the books, but before long, his teacher enlists him to do a job that puts him back into active duty. Suffering from bouts of memory loss and fearing she may be living a distinctly different life at night, Porter has the ex-cop tail her and keep tabs on her late night activities, where he is introduced to Lena, her club hopping alter ego. With Lena and Lauren both steadily creeping into Beckwith's life, the lines between student and teacher become increasingly blurred, but when his investigations reveal that the professor turned party girl may be guilty of murder, the cleaned up cop suddenly stands to lose everything. David Madden directs this tension filled thrill ride.
