Serendipity is a lighthearted romantic comedy directed by Peter Chelsom (Hannah Montana: The Movie, Shall We Dance?) starring John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale. The movie centers around Jonathan (John Cusack) and Sarah (Kate Beckinsale), who meet by coincidence one day while shopping for gloves at a department store in NYC. A series of flirtatious glances are exchanged before Jonathan and Sarah decide to continue there playful banter at a local ice-cream shop. Jonathan and Sarah are undeniably attracted to one another, but a major roadblock stands in the way of their getting together: both are involved in serious relationships with other people. However, Jonathan is convinced they're meant to be together, and insists he and Sarah meet up again. Sarah reasons that if they are meant to be, they will inevitably run into each other in the future by way of fate. Years later, Jonathan and Sarah live of opposite ends of the country, and both are engaged to be married although neither one can shake their memories of the past. That is when Jonathan asks his best friend, Dean (Jeremy Piven) to help him find Sarah. Meanwhile, Sarah asks the same of her friend Eve (Molly Shannon).
