Seven Beauties follows small-time criminal Pasqualino (Giancarlo Giannini) who is sent to prison for killing the pimp who turned his sister to a life of prostitution. Desperate to get out of prison, he volunteers to serve in the Italian army during World War II. He deserts the army but is captured and sent to a concentration camp. He relies on his skills of seduction to survive the horrors of the camp, turning his attention to the camp commandant (Shirley Stoler). While at the camp, Pasqualino flashes to the film's back story in Naples when he stands trial for the gruesome murder of the pimp. But in the Nazi concentration camp, Pasqualino is forced to make a painful decision. He is ordered to choose six men to be killed or, he is told, they will all be killed. The 1975 film was written and directed by Lina Wertm''ller. The film was nominated for four Academy Awards, including best actor, best director, best foreign language film and best writing.moreless
