Severed: Forest of the Dead is a sort of new take on the classic zombie horror flick. A greedy forestry company begins genetically engineering trees in a remote section of the forest. The tests are an effort to increase logging yields by 15 percent but it is the experiment's effect on humans that leaves the company and forest dwellers horrified. A group of loggers and environmental activists are transformed into infected, flesh-eating zombies who torment the few survivors. The uninfected's only chance of survival is to sever the heads of the rabid flesh-eaters before they become the next meal. Set deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, the once serene and lush environment becomes a terror-filled maze in which escape is nearly impossible. Carl Bessai directs this gory blood-fest and with all the ingredients of the classic zombie thriller, Severed: Forest of the Dead is a must-see for zombie lovers and horror fans alike.
