Sgt. Bilko is a comedy film released in 1996 and is based on the Phil Silvers Show from the 1950s. Sgt. Bilko (Steve Martin) is a high ranking official at U.S. Army base Fort Baxter who uses his position to run gambling scams. He usually gets away with it, as his commanding officer Colonel Hall (Dan Akroyd) is rarely concerned with busting Bilko. Trouble starts when Inspector Major Thorn (Phil Hartman) arrives to settle a score and to prove Bilko is not worthy of his post. While trying to outsmart Thorn, Bilko has to win back his fiance Rita Robbins (Glenn Headly) who has given him 30 days to prove that he he loves her and is serious about their relationship. Bilko's men are given the task of getting an experimental hovercraft operational, but Thorn plans on sabotaging the demonstration. Through a series of confusing cons and silly scams, Bilko has to stop Thorn from ruining his career and win back Rita's hand.
