Shaft in Africa is the 1973 third entry in the popular blaxploitation franchise, which broadens the scope of the saga, sending everyone's favorite 'private dick that's a sex machine to all the chicks' to the Mother Land to combat evil, from director John Guillermin (King Kong, The Towering Inferno) and respected screenwriter Stirling Silliphant (In the Heat of the Night). This violent sequel begins when Shaft (Richard Roundtree, Seven, Q, the Winged Serpent) is obligated by threats to pull off a dangerous mission. He must to go undercover to Ethiopia. In Addis Ababa, Shaft assumes the identity of a native, and he's accompanied by a beautiful young African named Aleme (Voneta McGee). His work is to break up a slave trade ring whose origin encounter in Paris and ruled by a tyrannical mobster (Frank Finlay, Lifeforce, The Pianist) and hoodlums (Aldo Sambrell) who are exploiting the immigrants in chain-gang employments and minimum wage. The private-eye eliminates anyone who stands in his aim, battling a variety of nasties and keeping things moving along until the final confrontation into the Ch'teau of Montfort.moreless
