Shakes the Clown is a dark 1992 American comedy, written and directed by Bobcat Goldthwait, who also stars as the lead character, a clown called Shakes. Shakes the Clown is an alcoholic professional funnyman who is trying to make it in the harsh show business world of Palookaville, U.S.A. Life gets a lot harder for him when, in one of his brief periods of sobriety, Shakes realizes that someone has murdered his boss and framed him for the crime! Now Shakes must get his act together long enough to find the information that will clear his name. He goes undercover as a disliked mime and tries to stay away from the bars. Will he be able to stay sober? Will he be able to clear his name? Which one will be harder? You will have to watch Shakes the Clown to find out! Adam Sandler and Robin Williams make brief appearances.
