Shane, a Western from 1953, follows Shane (Alan Ladd), a gunslinger who comes to a small town in Wyoming. Almost as soon as he arrives, Shane becomes involved in a dispute between Joe Starrett (Van Heflin), a small time rancher, and Rufus Ryker (Emilie Meyer), a bigshot in the cattle rearing business. Shane begins working as a farm hand and is called upon by Joey Starrett (Brandon De Wilde) to teach him his gun-handling skills. Tensions mount in the town when Ryker murders a homesteader of the town who has dared disagree with him, and during the funeral burns down the home of another. Both Shane and Joe debate who will kill Ryker and bring him to justice, an argument Shane wins. Shane heads down to the saloon to have a final shootout with Ryker and his men. Can he survive, knowing Ryker will use any means necessary to win a fight?
