She Done Him Wrong is a American film directed by Lowell Sherman and starring Mae West, Cary Grant, and Owen Moore. Set in New York in the 1890s, Lady Lou (West) is a lounge singer who works at the Bowery barroom and maintains many close relationships with men. Gus Jordan (Noah Beery), the saloon boss, runs a prostitution ring to help pay for the many expensive diamonds that Lady Lou demands. Lou becomes entangled with the law when her ex-boyfriend, a criminal, is sent to jail for robbery. She goes to visit him and quickly becomes involved in illegalities that leave her disposing of a body. A federal agent, who has been watching Lou and the Bowery, intervenes and Lou's life changes for the dramatic' and romantic. Also starring Gilbert Roland and Rochelle Hudson, She Done Him Wrong was hugely successful upon its release in 1933 and is famous for many of Mae West's quips and one-liners.
