Sherlock: Case of Evil is a made-for-TV movie depicting a 28-year-old Sherlock Holmes (James D'Arcy) in the early days of his career. The cast also includes Vincent D'Onofrio as Professor Moriarty, Roger Morlidge in the role of Dr. Watson, and Gabrielle Anwar who plays Holmes' love interest. The movie opens with the young and very good-looking Sherlock in pursuit of the evil Professor Moriarty who falls into the sewers after being shot. Even though the body cannot be found, Holmes gains notoriety for his killing. However, the murders of prominent opium merchants cast doubts about the real whereabouts of Moriarty. Holmes will lead a new investigation that will bring him together with his new-found friend Dr. Watson, and a mysterious aristocratic lady in search of the criminal mastermind behind all these murders. This movie casts Holmes' character under a totally different light, far from the traditional one: an up-and-coming detective, lacking maturity, very talented, self-assured, and eager for publicity. The plot is lively with a strong contemporary feel, plenty of thrills and a good blend of mystery.
