Sholay is a 1975 classic Bollywood film brought to you by G.P. Sippy and Ramesh Sippy. The film itself is a great depiction of cinema in India, and as such, is undoubtedly worth watching at least once. The story centers around two unlikely heroes, Veeru (Dharmendra) and Jaidev (Amitabh Bachchan), as they attempt to avenge a friend's tragic misfortune. For as long as anyone can remember, Veeru and Jaidev have been nothing but trouble. They frequently butt heads with a law enforcement officer named Thakur Baldev Singh (Sanjeev Kumar). But despite all the trouble Veeru and Jaidev have caused, Thakur, now retired, sees that they are good natured at heart. One day, a sick and twisted gang headed by an evil man named Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan) slays everyone in Thakur's village. The gang tortures Thakur by severing his arms off. That is when he turns to his most trusted bandits - Veeru and Jaidev - and asks them to seek revenge. What ensues is a comedic, dramatic, action-packed story about two men trying to make right.
