Shooter is a 2007 political thriller based on the novel "Point of Impact" by Stephen Hunter. Former Marine Corps Scout Sniper Bob Lee Swagger (Mark Wahlberg) has retired to a remote mountain cottage, but when Colonel Isaac Johnson (Danny Glover) asks Swagger to help guard the President against an assassination attempt, his sense of patriotism compels him to abandon his isolated life and return to civilization. Swagger travels to Philadelphia with Colonel Johnson to protect the President, but things are not as they seem. When a foreign dignitary meeting with the President is shot, Colonol Johnson names Swagger as the assassin. He flees the city with the assistance of FBI agent Nick Memphis (Michael Pe''a) and meets up with his best friend's widow, Sarah Fenn (Kate Mara). With Sarah's help, Swagger begins to unravel the truth, but can he get to the bottom of a military conspiracy and clear his name before Colonel Johnson finds him?
