Short Circuit 2 is a comedy science fiction film that follows the life of Ben Jahrvi (Fisher Stevens) and his new entrepreneurial dreams. After the events of the first film, Ben has moved to New York City and is selling miniature replicas of his old friend Johnny Five (Tim Blaney). Ben is not exactly making a fortune in his new venture, but believes that his toys would be a big hit if he could only get them marketed correctly. Sandy Banatoni (Cynthia Gibb) is a desperate department store buyer who is looking for a hot new item to sell to save her career. When she meets Ben, she realizes that the replica robots could be just what she needs. Sandy orders one thousand units, and Ben realizes he has more work to do than he can handle. Ben's friend Fred Ritter (Michael McKean) thinks he is helping the cause when he produces funding for the equipment they will need. It quickly becomes clear that Fred's tactics were not exactly on the up-and-up. Johnny Five pays a visit to Ben to help with the toy manufacturing, but things turn ugly quick when the loan shark returns for his money. Kenneth Johnson directs this 1988 film.
