Shout at the Devil is the 1976 comedy adventure film based on the novel of the same name by Wilbur Smith. The novel and film are loosely inspired by real events, telling the story of Colonel Flynn O'Flynn (Lee Marvin) as he goes on a mission to get rich with Sebastian Oldsmith (Roger Moore). Flynn is a hard-drinking Irish American adventurer, and he teams up with his daughter Rosa (Barbara Parkins) and English poacher Oldsmith to try to get paid in the German-controlled pre-WWI Tanganyika. They are hunted by German Commander Herman Fleischer, who hits their boat full of poached ivory. Fleischer's soldiers later kill Sebastian's daughter Maria, and O'Flynn and Oldsmith head on a mission to destroy the battleship. The story is full of adventure, funny moments, and even romance, as Sebastian and Rosa fall in love. O'Flynn is an amusing character, a master con man whose suaveness is only hindered by his love of drinking gin.
