Silent Witness, also known as, Do Not Disturb, is a thriller from 1999, directed by Dick Maas. An American pharmaceutical executive, Walter Richmond (William Hurt), takes his wife, Catherine (Meg Tilly), and deaf-mute daughter, Melissa (Francesca Brown), on a business trip to Amsterdam. Melissa becomes separated from her parents and witnesses a murder. The killers, Bruno Decker (Corey Johnson) and Rudolph Hartman (Michael Chicklis), see the girl has witnessed the killing and the chase begins. Melissa must outwit the hitmen in a strange country where she cannot tell anyone about the murder because she is mute. Eventually, Melissa reunites with her parents. Walter, who is also undertaking a business deal with Rudolph, reveals to Rudolph that his daughter is safe, leading Rudolph to take up the chase for Melissa once again. Simon, (Denis Leary) a helpful American, who lives in Amsterdam, aids the family in this film full of twists and turns.
