Silver City Bonanza is a 1951 western directed by George Blair. As the story begins, Blind Pete (Harry Lauter) is stabbed after overhearing someone talk about the location of a lost Spanish silver lode. Pete's seeing eye dog, Duke, brings Gabe Horne (Buddy Ebsen) and Rex Allen (Rex Allen) to the site of Pete's lifeless body. In search of Pete's killer, Rex and Gabe run into Katie McIntosh (Mary Ellen Kay), a rancher who lives just outside Silver City. Katie is having trouble with a local gang and asks Rex and Gabe to stay with her and help out at the ranch. While working on the ranch, Rex comes across a small brass fitting which proves to be a major clue in Pete's murder and the location of the lost Spanish treasure. Suddenly, the myth of a ghost in armour rising at night from the lake on Katie's ranch begins to make sense. Rex, Gabe and Katie can now bring Pete's killers to justice. Fans of Rex Allen westerns and classic murder mysteries will enjoy Silver City Bonanza.moreless
