This compilation of short films features two Golden Oldie comedies. First up is "The Stolen Jool," (1931) a short comedy film produced by the Masquers Club of Hollywood, featuring many cameo appearances by the film stars of the day. They appeared in the film to help raise funds for the National Variety Artists Tuberculosis Sanitarium. The cast includes Wallace Beery, Buster Keaton, Jack Hill, Edward G. Robinson, Laurel & Hardy, Norma Shearer, Hedda Hopper, Joan Crawford, Joe E. Brown, Warner Baxter, Irene Dunne, Richard Dix, Gary Cooper, Maurice Chevalier, Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., Loretta Young, Barbara Stanwyck, Faye Wray, George "Gabby" Hayes, and many more -- including many members of "Our Gang"!"Mud and Sand" (1922) is a silent film 1922 starring Stan Laurel. Laurel plays a matador who makes a fool of a famous Spanish dancer. The dancer demands revenge and, in the end, kills the matador by throwing a concealed brick at him after a fight with the fiercest bull in Spain. The moral of the story, shown in the last scene, is: "If you want to live a long full life, cut out the bull!" The title spoofs the Rudolph Valentino film Blood and Sand, and many scenes directly parody that film.moreless
