Sirroco is a 1951 noir film made by Humphrey Bogart's own production company - Santana Productions. The movie stars Humphrey Bogart, Marta Toren, and Lee J. Cob. The film takes place in 1925 in the city of Damascus. Harry Smith (Humphrey Bogar) runs a casino and runs a business on the side, helping the natives execute their insurrection against the presiding French Protectorate. For a hefty fee, he provides the Arabs with guns and equipment with which they can hopefully overthrow the government. He is frequently criticized by a French colonel named Feroud (Lee J. Cob), and therefore has a lessened opinion on the government which dominates the city. Harry begins an affair with Feroud's woman, a woman named Violetta (Marta Toren). She dreams of fleeing the city for Cairo. But during a bad turn of events, Harry's confidants turn on him, and the French beat him and require him to conform to their standards. A must see for anyone who loves Bogart!moreless
