Sis Hopkins is a movie about a young woman and her family. Sis Hopkins (Judy Canova) lives on her family farm, but it burns down forcing her to leave. She arrives in the city to live with her wealthy relatives, Uncle Horace Hopkins (Charles Butterworth) and her cousin Carol (Susan Hayward). Her uncle takes her under his wing, but Carol does not enjoy having Sis in the family. In fact, she tries to humiliate Sis at her sorority during an initiation event in an attempt to send her packing. However, Sis wins out with her unexpected appeal and loves city life too much, so Carol's actions accomplish little. Sis even wins over band leader, Jeff Farnsworth (Bob Crosby) and college Professor, Jerry Colonna (himself). Joseph Santley directs Sis Hopkins, a comedy based on a play of the same name. The adventures of this converted country girl living in the city entertains for hours.
