Skull and Crown is an adventurous drama directed by Elmer Clifton. German Shepherd Rinty (Rin-Tin Tin, Jr.) is a canine police officer who patrols the Mexican border with his human companion, Bob Franklin. Franklin and Rinty are eagerly preparing for a visit from Franklin's sister Barbara (Lois January), a college student. Before Barbara arrives, however, Franklin's colleague Ed (Jack Mulhall) arrives at the Franklin house. Ed begs Franklin to pursue Zorro (Jack Mower), a vicious Mexican bandit who has fled north into the United States with a gigantic load of smuggled goods. Reluctantly, Franklin leaves his car and his dog at the train station, pinning an explanatory note and spare car key to Rinty's collar, promising to return as soon as he can. When Barbara arrives, she drives herself and Rinty to her brother's house to rest from her grueling journey. Meanwhile, Franklin and Ed are hot on Zorro's trail, not realizing that with each passing minute they are driving the desperate criminal closer to Franklin's cabin - and his beloved sister.moreless
