SLC Punk! is a dramatic comedy film written and directed by James Merendino that focuses on the lives of two punks living in Salt Lake City, Utah. Stevo (Matthew Lillard) is an eloquent punk rocker who spends most of his time arguing for anarchy and partying with his friends. His parents secretly apply him for Harvard Law School but Stevo rejects the acceptance letter, claiming that he doesn't want to be a sell out. Along with best friend, Heroin Bob (Michal A. Goorjian), Stevo lives in an apartment that is falling apart and has no real direction in his life. When Steveo begins to watch his friends clean up and move away, or lose their minds to drug abuse, he begins to wonder if his beliefs are right. When he meets Brandy (Summer Phoenix), he falls in love immediately, though she is quick to point out that his clothes and belief in chaos is really more of a fashion choice than a way of life. Will Stevo stick to the beliefs that have gotten him this far, or will he conform to society and become just another poser? SLC Punk! also stars Jennifer Lien, Christopher McDonald, Devon Sawa, and Jason Segel, and was released on 1999 by Sony Pictures Classics.moreless
