Soon, however, he is allowed to live adjacent to the home of a young boy and his mother which he befriends. There, he observes the boy's rocky home life, presided over by his mother's degenerate boyfriend, Doyle(Dwight Yoakam), who's rough treatment of the boy is starting to fray Karl's possibly unsteady nerves'moreless
