Smoke Jumper

Movie Summary

Director:
John Terlesky
Released:
2008
Rating:
PG
Smoke Jumper tells the riveting tale of Kristen Scott (Brooke Burns), the only female firefighter in her small city. After a tragic accident that cost the life of her father and unit's captain, Kristen is seen as responsible by her fellow firefighters. Armed with only ambition and her tough, audacious attitude, she sets off to redeem herself in their eyes and absolve the guilt she carries over the tragedy. Kristen decides to join an elite unit known as the smoke jumpers, despite the skepticism of her family and friends and tremendous odds she would have to overcome. A smoke jumper's mission is to parachute into remote areas to combat wildfires. It is a much more dangerous and physically demanding role. Throughout the rest of the film, she becomes a true hero, saving many lives, including her sister's. Other characters include Ray Kulhanek (Rick Ravanello), Trip Crandall (William MacDonald) and Chelsea (Erin Karpluk).
