Smoke Signals is an independent film that follows the story of two Native American men trying to find themselves. Victor (Adam Beach) is a local basketball player, while Thomas (Evan Adams) is a tribe storyteller. As an infant, Thomas was rescued by Victor's father, Arnold (Gary Farmer) from a fire that killed his parents. While Thomas considers Arnold a hero, Victor has resentment toward his father due to his violent tendencies and alcoholism. Thomas and Victor grow up as neighbors with a love hate relationship. Years later, Arnold has moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he passes away. Victor and Arnold begin a journey to pick up Arnold's ashes and possessions. This journey turns into soul-searching adventure for both of them. When in Phoenix, Victor learns a secret involving his father that gives him a new prospective on why Arnold became the hateful man he was and begins to rid himself of the resentment he feels toward him.
