Smother is a 2008 dramatic comedy from director Vince de Meglio, starring Academy Award winner Diane Keaton as an overbearing, protective mother. Noah Cooper (Dax Shepard) starts his day with a bang when he's fired from his job as a therapist. Sure his day can't get any worse, Noah returns home to tell his wife, Claire (Liv Tyler), his bad news, only to realize things are far worse than he thought. Noah's domineering, smothering mother, Marilyn Cooper (Diane Keaton), along with her five dogs, is moving in with he and Claire! Marilyn has left her husband, who she suspects has had an affair, and when Claire sympathetically offers to take her in, Marilyn jumps at the offer, much to Noah's complete dismay. Unemployed Noah must find a new job, deal with his wife's ticking biological clock and put up with his mother's smothering habits. Will Noah ever be able to take his life back?
