Soccer Dog: The Movie is a 1999 sports comedy film directed by Tony Giglio. Alden (James Marshall) is a former soccer player. He loves the game so much, but has not played it with any sort of regularity in his adult years. He decides that the best course of action to remedy this soccer withdrawal is to adopt a child. He adopts Clay (Jeremy Foley), but unbeknownst to Alden, Clay does not care about soccer. One day, Alden discovers that Clay is hiding a stray dog in his bedroom. Alden had no idea Clay was hiding a dog and taking care of it, as he thought he was just sad. While he doesn't care about soccer, Clay still plays on a team to honor the wishes of his adopted father. During one game, a player on the team is injured and Clay's dog fills in. Since there is no rule that says a dog can't play soccer, it is allowed. The dog scores a goal in the game and goes on to become a soccer superstar.moreless
