Sometimes They Come Back is a taut, made for television suspense thriller adapted from a short story by horror guru Stephen King and directed by Tom McLoughlin (Friday the Thirteenth Part 6: Jason Lives). Jim Norman (Tim Matheson, Animal House, Buried Alive, Magnum Force, Drop Dead Fred) is an earnest high school teacher returning to his alma mater to teach earnest students, when he is confronted by a horror that has lay in wait for him for thirty years. When he was young, he and his little brother were crossing through a forbidding train tunnel when they were intercepted and accosted by bullies, led by the snarling Richard Lawson (Robert Rusler, Weird Science, Vamp). Out of nowhere, a train bears down on the group and Jim is unable to escape with his brother in time and his sibling and the bullies are killed. Having had to live with the grief all his life, Jim now finds himself confronted with something far worse and more insidious as his students start dying off and being replaced with what seem to be the ghosts of the bullies which attacked him years before.moreless
