      • Nick is about to tell his son a bedtime story - "the story of Dangerous Dan McGoup", as he puts it - which is an allusion to the character of "Dangerous Dan McGREW" from the poem "The Shooting of Dan McGrew" by Robert Service. Yet, inspired by his son's old fashioned toy pistol, Nick never gets to tell the story, but goes off chasing after another clue.
