Sons of the Pioneers was designed as a vehicle for cowboy and singer Roy Rogers. It delivers an action-packed, comedic tale of the old west. After failing to capture the bad guys who are burning down local barns, spirited lady rancher Louise Harper (Maris Wrixon) demands that George "Gabby" Hayes (Gabby Whittaker) find a new sheriff who can handle the villains. Gabby is inspired to send for Roy Rogers, whose father was a legendary gunslinger...from back east. However, Roy is nothing like his Dad. Instead he proves to be a shy, etymologist who has never held a gun in his life. Roy decides to aid the ranchers and remains to investigate the situation. He is "helped" by Gabby and his deputy Pat Brady, notably in a comic scene where Gabby juggles bottles of nitroglycerin after he believes he's seen a ghost. In the end, Roy will save the day in a final, satisfying conclusion. The film also features Bob Nolan, Forrest Taylor, Minerva Urecal, Bradley Page, Hal Taliaferro, and Chester Conklin.moreless
