Spanglish is a 2004 comedic drama about the intermingled lives of a wealthy family, their maid and her daughter. Flor Moreno (Paz Vega) is a Mexican housekeeper who, despite not speaking English, gets a job working for the wealthy Clasky family. John (Adam Sandler) is a successful chef, while his wife Deborah (Tea Leoni) is a former businesswoman who quit her job to raise their two children, Georgie (Ian Hayland) and Bernice (Sarah Steele). Deborah's alcoholic mother, Evelyn (Cloris Leachman), also lives with the Clasky's, often serving as a foil to her selfish daughter. When the summer arrives and the Clasky's offer Flor the chance to go away with them, she is forced to tell them that she has a daughter, Cristina (Shelbie Bruce), who will have to come with them. Though initially afraid she will lose her job because of it, the Clasky's welcome Cristina into their lives, and mother and daughter spend an eventful summer with the Clasky's as their tight family bond slowly begins to disintegrate over Deborah's infidelities.
