Movie Summary

Released:
1994
Rating:
PG-13
Speechless is a romantic comedy film directed by Ron Underwood that centers on two political speechwriters whose friendship and growing romantic sparks is thrown for a loop when they discover they are writing for opposing candidates in a New Mexico senatorial campaign. Having met during one of the many sleepless nights the two insomniacs have had, Kevin (Michael Keaton) and Julia (Geena Davis) hide their attractions to the other as they continue to harp and bicker over their jobs while also trying to one up the other with their speeches. It is a dance of one step forward and two steps back for the two when Kevin's ex-wife Annette (Bonnie Bedelia) continues to make her presence known as part of the Republican staff and Geena's ex-fiance, frontline reporter Bob Freed (Christopher Reeve), decides to cover the campaign in order to win her back. Speechless is a witty and quirky look at how love can bloom even in the heat of a campaign.moreless
