1998

PG-13

Sphere follows a team of scientists as they plunge thousands of feet beneath the ocean's surface to explore an alien spaceship trapped in 300 years worth of coral growth. Marine biologist Dr. Beth Halperin oversees the mission aboard Habitat, an underwater living environment. The team also includes mathematician Dr. Harry Adams, astrophysicist Dr. Ted Fielding, psychologist Dr. Norman Goodman and a member of the U.S. Navy. Upon closer inspection of the ship, however, they discover it isn't alien. It's an American spaceship that was sent back in time through a black hole. The future crew had been tasked with retrieving items from around the galaxy and return them to earth for study. Among the items is a mysterious sphere with strange powers that threatens Habitat and the crew. Before they can evacuate to the surface and safety, a typhoon rolls into the area, trapping them beneath the water.
