Splice is a 2009 horror science-fiction film directed by Vincenzo Natali. Clive (Adrien Brody) and Elsa (Sarah Polley) share a deep bond. Instead of wanting to settle down and start a family together, Clive and Elsa are obsessed with their work. The two geniuses create complex genetic hybrids, revolutionizing the medical field and revealing the fascinating power of science. Clive and Elsa share the ultimate goal of drawing on human DNA to create a powerful new hybrid, but the pharmaceutical company that provides their funding holds them back, fearing the consequences. Growing increasingly obsessed with the idea of a human-animal hybrid, Clive and Elsa decide to go rogue, conducting their experiments in private. When Dren (Delphine Chanéac) comes into being, she is welcomed by two very proud parents. Dren is unlike any living creature ever seen before, combining intelligence, strength and gracefulness. Clive and Elsa are triumphant and cannot wait to show their unique baby to the world. However, as the days pass, Dren begins to exhibit unsettling and dangerous qualities. The scientists may have to admit that nature is still out of their control.moreless
