Splitting Heirs is a 1993 British comedy directed by Robert Young. The movie stars Monty Python alums Eric Idle and John Cleese, as well as Rick Moranis, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Barbara Hershey. Written by Eric Idle, Splitting Heirs' story focuses on the aristocratic family of the Dukes of Bournemouth who, due to a series of misfortunes, believe themselves to be cursed. The rightful heir to the throne, Thomas Henry Butterfly Rainbow Peace (Eric Idle), was accidentally left in a restaurant as an infant in the 1960s. When his parents eventually realized they had forgotten him, it was too late, he had disappeared. Thomas grew up in an Indian family in Southall and never doubted his ethnicity, despite being fair-haired, light-skinned, blue-eyed and not much liking curry. After circumstantial evidence reveals that Thomas is the rightful heir to the Bournemouth throne, he, with the help of his lawyer Raoul P. Shadgrind (John Cleese), must find a way to unseat the current Duke, American Henry Bullock (Rick Moranis).moreless
