Square Roots: The Story of SpongeBob Squarepants is a made-for-television 2009 documentary by director Patrick Creadon that aired on VH1. Commemorating the 10th anniversary of SpongeBob Squarepants, the documentary goes behind the scenes of the hit animated television series’ pop culture success. Viewed by everyone from President Barack Obama to inmates of the San Quentin State Prison, as well as children all over the world, SpongeBob Squarepants touches many lives with his annoying laugh and childish innocence. The show’s creator, Stephen Hillenburg, provides a commentary and various celebrities, including LeBron James, Ricky Gervais, Craig Ferguson, Alec Baldwin, Chris Pine, Keke Palmer, and Rosario Dawson, are featured in the film.
