Star 80 is a 1983 drama directed by Bob Fosse. Based on a true story, the film chronicles Playboy centerfold Dorothy Stratten's (Mariel Hemingway) meteoric rise to fame and subsequent death. As the film begins, Dorothy is working at a Dairy Queen when she is discover by amateur pornographer Paul Snider (Eric Roberts). Rather than falling in love, Paul sees his opportunity to pimp her out to the adult entertainment community and make some money. Envisioning himself as a successful entrepreneur, Paul marries Dorothy and appoints himself her manager for life. Soon, however, Paul's jealousy begins to get the better of him as Dorothy's new friends, including Hugh Heftner (Cliff Robertson), begin to push him away. Now isolated from his creation, Paul's jealousy erupts into a full-on confrontation with Dorothy. At the advice of her new friends, Dorothy calls it quits with Paul. Unable to cope with this rejection, Paul reacts with violence.
