Movie Summary

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home is a 1986 science film that continues the story of the crew of the USS Enterprise, the starship that was recently destroyed during the events of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. The recently recovered Spock is traveling back to Earth with his fellow crew members James T. Kirk, Montgomery Scott, Leonard McCoy, Hikaru Sulu, Uhura, and Chekov. Once on Earth, they will stand trial for stealing the Enterprise on a renegade mission to save Spock's life—a mission which led to the Enterprise's destruction. When they arrive back home in their stolen Klingon starship, they discover a mysterious alien cylinder that is causing huge amounts of damage to Earth's ecosystem. After Spock investigates, they discover the aliens are descendants of humpback whales, magnificent creatures that once lived in Earth's oceans until they were made extinct by human greed. Captain Kirk proposes a risky plan that takes the crew back in time to 1986, where they hope to find two “Adam and Eve” humpback whales to bring back to the present, where they could repopulate the Earth and appease the aliens. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home is one of the most celebrated films in the Star Trek franchise, featuring a light-hearted tone and a positive message.moreless
