Star Trek: The Motion Picture - The Director's Edition is a special version of Star Trek: The Motion Picture edited by famed director Robert Wise. The film picks up three years after the television series ended. A massive energy cloud is rapidly approaching Earth while destroying everything in its path. The USS Enterprise, drydocked for three years since its last mission, has been called into action with a new captain, Will Decker (Stephen Collins). The original captain, James T. Kirk (William Shatner), although he has been promoted to Admiral and Chief of Starfleet Operations, is unhappily working behind a desk. However, he is thrust back into his old control chair when Decker proves incapable of command. Kirk takes control of the Enterprise and its original crew, including television series favorites Spock (Leonard Nimoy) and Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy (DeForrest Kelley). They embark to explore the energy cloud and stop it from destroying Earth. Star Trek: The Motion Picture - The Director's Edition re-launches the Star Trek franchise with an expanded 143 minute version with state of the art sound and visuals.moreless
