Stardust is a 2007 tale of love and adventure based on the fantasy novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman. One night, the dying king throws a ruby into the sky with a decree that whichever of his seven sons finds it will be his successor. The ruby hits a star, dropping it to earth and making it the princes' target. Soon after, Tristan Thorne (Charlie Cox) promises the object of his affections that he will bring her the recently fallen star in exchange for her hand in marriage. He finds the star, only to realize that it is actually a woman named Yvaine (Claire Danes) who he captures to bring to his lady. As they travel through the land, he changes from her captor to her protector. Along the way they encounter an ensemble cast of friendly and not-so-friendly characters, including flamboyant pirates, evil heart-eating witches, noble ghosts, and unicorns.
