Rating:

Starting Over is a hilarious comedy that was released in 1979 about an attractive magazine writer named Phil Potter (Burt Reynolds) who finds himself suddenly single when his wife, Jessica (Candice Bergen), decides to further her music career and leave him high and dry. When Phil begins trying to piece his life back together and moves on to another relationship with quirky school teacher Marilyn Holmberg (Jill Clayburgh), Jessica realizes she wants him back. After Jessica tries to seduce him and then desperately attempts to gain his love back by writing him a song to the likes of nails running down a chalkboard Phil begins to realize that he still deeply loves and cares for his wife. It becomes clear that people really do not truly appreciate and acknowledge what they have until they no longer have it anymore and that sometimes it is a lot harder to move on and let go.
