Starz Inside: Comic Books Unbound is a 2008 documentary produced by the Starz cable channel. Since its inception, the Hollywood film industry has turned to comic books for ideas and inspiration. Starz Entertainment, in association with Michael Ruggerio, Gregg Backer, and Evan Kanew, takes an in-depth look back at the history of comic book films from the earliest movie serials of the 1930s and 40s, like Blackhawk, Batman, Superman, Captain Marvel and Spy Smasher up to current mega-hit movies like Iron Man, Hellboy, and Batman: The Dark Knight. Starz Inside: Comic Books Unbound allows viewers to see how these films have evolved from low-brow, B-movie fare, to become the multi-million dollar blockbusters that they are today. The documentary features interviews from comic book pros Stan Lee, Neal Adams, and Jim Steranko, and also interviews filmmakers Guillermo del Toro, Richard Donner, Michael Uslan, Roger Corman, and Zak Penn. Ron Perlman, Selma Blair, Jeff Bridges, Robert Downey Jr., Edward Norton and Gwyneth Paltrow give their opinions on comic book movies from the actor's perspective.moreless
