Staying Alive is a 1983 drama that continues the story of Tony Manero (John Travolta), the star dancer from Saturday Night Fever. No longer the king of the disco, Tony now works as a waiter and dance instructor as he tries to get his big break on Broadway. He has moved from Brooklyn to Manhattan and given up many of the vices that once troubled him, such as alcohol. He still has the same problems with woman, however, repeatedly cheating on his trusting girlfriend, Jackie (Cynthia Rhodes). One night, while attending one of Jackie's shows, Tony meets Laura (Finola Hughes), the lead dancer in the show. The two quickly fall into a short relationship that prompts Jackie to leave Tony when she learns of it. Though Tony wants Laura, she dismisses him quickly, and he is left with nothing. Desperate to get his life back together, he returns to his old neighborhood in Brooklyn to try and figure out how to get his life back together.moreless
