In her will, she named Billy as the person to dispose of her ashes. Billy returns home which brings back memories of the free-spirited Katie and the summer they became sweethearts. During that long-ago summer, the teenage Billy (William McNamara) lost his father, Sam (John Shea), and endured his mother, Ginny (Blair Brown), starting to date again. It was also the summer that Billy and his then best friend Alan Appleby (Jonathan Silverman) decided to lose their virginity. Billy reconnects with the adult Alan (Harold Ramis) and through the process of reviewing his past, begins to see a future for himself. Directors Steven Kampmann and William Porter also wrote the screenplay for this bittersweet drama.
