Steel Dawn is a post apocalyptic film, with hints of Western Science fiction, released on November 6, 1987. The film was directed by Lance Hool and was written by Doug Lefler. Having lost his army squad in war, Nomad (Patrick Swayze), a swordsman, finds himself in the remains of post World War III. As Nomad is wandering the desert, he finds a group of settlers in a town named Meridian. The movie features Damnil (Anthony Zerbe), a local landowner, who along with his murderous gang, is trying to take over Meridian's water supply. Nomad ends up joining forces with Kasha (Lisa Niemi) and Kasha's foreman Tark ( Brion James) to take back the town and bring peace back to the small community. Christoper Neame also stars in Steel Dawn, playing the character Sho. Many people praised the role Patrick Swayze played as Nomad and the role Lisa Niemi ( Patrick Swayze's real life wife) played as Kasha.
