Steel Toes is a gripping dramatic film about a Jewish lawyer appointed to defend a neo-Nazi in a murder trial. After beating and stomping an Indian man to death, neo-Nazi Mike Downey (Andrew Walker) is in Prison awaiting trial for murder. His court appointed lawyer is Danny Dunkelman (David Strathairn), who is both Jewish and and a staunch humanist, but also a devoted attorney, committed to perform his job as best he can. In a heated battle of the wills, Downey and Dunkelman square off in an emotional and tension filled verbal fisticuffs, with neither man initially bending from their passionate stance. But as they interact, both see the other's side, with Dunkelman having compassion for the young neo-Nazis's misguided choices in life and Downey beginning to see the error of his racist and hateful ways. Mark Adam and David Gow direct this stunning adaptation of Gow's award winning stage play, tackling a controversial subject with grace and excellence.
