Step Up is a 2006 dance movie starring Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan. Tyler Gage (Tatum) is involved in a robbery at the Maryland School of Arts and takes the fall. He is sentenced to serve community service at the school. There Tyler notices Nora Clark (Dewan) in her dance class preparing for an important performance. Nora later sees Tyler applying some of her ballet moves to his street-style break-dancing. Nora's dance partner injures himself and after auditioning replacements, Nora decides that Tyler is the best option. At first the two do not get along as Tyler is very short with Nora's boyfriend Brett (Josh Henderson). Tyler and Nora eventually start to see the good in each other's respected dance styles and lifestyles and they grow close. Brett gets a record deal and leaves his band-mate and Nora's friend Miles (Mario) resulting in Nora breaking up with Brett. Just before the big performance, Nora's former partner returns ready to dance. Tyler believes he will be the Miles to Nora's Brett and be cast away. This results Tyler walking out on her and leaving her to perform all by herself.
