Still Walking, directed by Scott Herriott and released in 2009, is a follow-up documentary of Walk, a 2003 documentary of interviews from hiking groups and their journeys through the Pacific Crest Trail. During the first documentary, Scott goes to the Pacific Crest Trail to interview the class of 2003 on what it was like to walk the 2,658 miles needed to finish the trail. In 2005, Scott Herriott returns to the Pacific Crest Trail to hear what the class of 2005 has to say. He hears wild stories of possible Bigfoot encounters and of salt-crazed deer in the wilderness as well as heart-warming stories such as one about rescuing baby falcons. In addition to hearing new stories, he revisits the class of 2003 to see how they've come along. He finds out about a recent wedding and even listens to stories of new hiking trips each one of them has taken. There are over 100 interviews contained within the documentary as well as footage from the beautiful landscape that is the Pacific Crest Trail.moreless

Metacritic Score

  • 100

    Los Angeles Times Kenneth Turan

This small gem of a movie always feels true and real as it gently reveals the quiet moments that define our lives.

  • 90

    Variety Dennis Harvey

Its modest surface belies the depths of a lovely seriocomedy that concisely lays bare all kinds of uncomfortable dynamics in seemingly casual, low-key fashion.

  • 80

The New York Times Manohla Dargis

This is life as it's lived, not dreamed. And this is a family bound not only by sorrow, but also by a shared history that emerges in 114 calibrated minutes and ends with a wallop.
